Multicultural Arts Victoria’s artists truly supported us with showcasing the beauty of diversity through multicultural talent. The performers that Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV) has connected us with have helped us create an inclusive atmosphere at our home games which enables us to continue to promote and support community cohesion. MAV is an active member of our Multicultural Advisory Committee which supported the initiation of our inaugural 2018 Harmony Game.

After a couple of meetings and discussions with the team at Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV), we collectively found an artistic fit with a co-presentation of the Siem Reap Lady Boys for the Dark Mofo late night program and headline performances in Melbourne. It was an exciting opportunity and positive experience for the artists and audience alike and gave us, as curators exposure to artists we were unlikely to discover without the support and guidance of MAV.

Abdi (MAV Artist) delivered a powerful and engaging workshop. He was able to address some complicated themes (positive identity, hope for the future and sense of advocacy) in his unique storytelling way. Abdi was able to build a connection with the newly arrived refugee students in a short time. Despite the language barriers the students took time to write their thoughts in the feedback forms, which is reflection of the quality of the workshops delivered. It was a privilege to work with Abdi and looking forward to the prospect of working with him and MAV again.
